The original Hypo allergenic range of pet food  from Orchard House. From the beginning we understood that as well as providing for our dogs varied nutritional needs according to size and dietary requirements, we also had to give consideration to the ‘kibble’ that we expected them to eat. The first point was to ensure that the food that we offered was the right texture and size. The kibble gives a dog the chance to chew and use its teeth properly, to eat. However, we all know how enthusiastic some of our friends can be and so in the event it is eaten quickly, and not chewed properly, the food needs to be easily digestible and if it is eaten slowly and purposefully, it should not be far too hard to chew. For small mouthed dogs, we have smaller kibble that is easy for them to chew and digest and a larger kibble for larger breeds. Likewise, we have different kibble for puppies whether they are small or large breed. The kibble for the senior food is a size that older dogs will find easy to chew and digest. Whatever the food, it is important to make sure that at all times a bowl of  fresh, clean water is provided for your dog to drink.

Your pet’s health and happiness depends on you and the food you choose. To stay healthy, active and happy, dogs, like humans need a balanced diet containing a wide range of nutrients. Each kibble has a composition that has the right balance of protein, oils and fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

Protein 

Type of protein, its source and digestibility are very important for pet health. Meat is the best source of protein for dogs and cats with a balance of amino acids from animals and plants for ideal performance. Once a protein is ingested it is broken down into the individual amino acids that are used as building blocks for healthy growth and repair of tissues (muscle definition and coat condition). Cats are carnivorous and require a higher level of protein in their diet compared to omnivorous dogs.

Oils and Fats

Oils and fats are needed in the diet to provide essential fatty acids (including Omega 3 and Omega 6) and energy. They are involved in many aspects of health including skin and coat condition, brain and eye health and reproduction.

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are a good source of energy in pet food, consisting of easily digestible starches and more complex carbohydrates such as cellulose (fibre). Potato, rice and peas are good sources, encouraging lower feed requirements and smaller, firmer stools.

Vitamins & Minerals

These are essential for the long term health of your pet. Vitamins are necessary for many of the body’s processes and they can act as antioxidants which help prevent ageing. Minerals are required for healthy bones, skin and overall cell function.

 ‘Naturals Choice Blend’

Intolerances are often associated with the food most commonly eaten and occasionally those sensitivities can include not only wheat and wheat gluten but also examples such as beef, pork, soya, dairy and egg. Our Naturally Hypoallergenic 'Naturals Choice Blend' range excludes all of these and is made using only the highest quality Single Protein Source, with rice and barley to suit even the most sensitive dog. This means that it is what it says it is on the label. Cooked to perfection for amazing taste and for easy digestion, they benefit from a liberal garnish of chicory, yucca and dandelion. They are naturally preserved with essential vitamins and oils. Again, there is a variety of flavours to provide a choice, Fish & Rice, Turkey & Rice, and Lamb & Rice.    ‘Grain Free'

Grain Free is the new range of natural, balanced and complete dog food from Orchard House Pet Food that is Vet approved, with a gentle formula designed to be suitable for those with a grain intolerance/sensitivity. Made with 50% Meat (of which 26% is freshly prepared) it is rich in amino acids with vitamins and minerals and is a natural, traditionally sourced and highly digestible protein source. It also contains sweet potato, a complex carbohydrate high in B vitamins making it an excellent alternative to grain. With added Omega 3 supplement that is an excellent source of EPA and DHA (Omega 3 Fatty Acids) to support cognitive function, visual development and help to reduce the inflammation response. No artificial colours or, preservatives.   

'Orchard's Prime'

The concept of Orchard's Prime Superfood 65 recipes was to create a Grain Free kibble which included an increased amount of freshly prepared animal ingredients alongside 5 key Superfood ingredients. The Superfoods have been specifically selected for each recipe based on their high nutrient content. The recipes have also been formulated without Peas and White Potato as we see greater demand for recipes without the inclusion of these two ingredients.
